TEAM NEWS

Tottenham forward Rafael van der Vaart is likely to neglect Tuesday's trip to Norwich after suffering a hamstring injury in Thursday night's 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Spurs will give tests to Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul (both hamstring) before deciding whether they will play any part in the clash at Carrow Road. Ledley King is unlikely to play having completed two games in five days while Aaron Lennon (hamstring), Michael Dawson (Achilles) and Tom Huddlestone (ankle) are out.
Norwich have no clean injury concerns for the home clash. Defender Kyle Naughton, on loan from Spurs, will miss the match through suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Wolves in midweek. Former Everton striker James Vaughan is on course for a back in the new year from his knee problem, along with centre-back Elliott Ward (knee). On-loan Manchester United defender Ritchie de Laet (back) could return.New dad Russell Martin is not about to lose any nap at the prospect of shackling "on fire'' Tottenham wing-back Gareth Bale at Carrow Road.

Scotland international Martin, 25, has produced a string of consistent displays in the Norwich defence - including in the 4-2 win over Newcastle earlier this month when his partner Jasmine had gone into labour ahead of the birth of their first child, Reno.

With Kyle Naughton, on loan from Spurs, set to serve a one-match ban, the likelihood is Martin will be asked to go out to the right side of defence.

The former Wycombe defender, capped against Wales at the end of last season, is ready for whatever challenge high-flying Spurs conjure up.

Left-back Neil Taylor is Swansea's just major fitness doubt for Tuesday's match. The Wales international suffered a knee injury in the 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park, but a scan has revealed there is no ligament damage and he still has a chance of featuring against Neil Warnock's side. Winger Nathan Dyer is also set to be available, after missing out with a foot problem against the Toffees.
QPR will again be without Anton Ferdinand. The 26-year-old defender returned to light training on Friday after a hamstring injury, but manager Neil Warnock does not expect he will back until the game with Norwich on January 2. Shaun Wright-Phillips went for a precautionary scan on a knee complaint on Friday, while fellow midfielder Kieron Dyer is out for the time after undergoing foot surgery.
Swansea midfielder Joe Allen heads into Tuesday's Liberty Stadium meeting with QPR desperate to gain revenge for the hiding the Welsh side suffered against the Londoners this time last year.

Both sides were chasing promotion from the Championship when they met at Loftus Road on Boxing Day, but it proved to be a miserable day for the Welsh club as they suffered a resounding 4-0 defeat.

But with Rangers having sealed the Championship title and the Swans claiming play-off glory, Allen and his team-mates will obtain the chance to make amends as they look to continue an excellent home record that has seen them defeated just once on their own turf.

Defender Johan Djourou is ahead of schedule in his return from a groin injury and could play for Arsenal in Tuesday's home game against Wolves. Kieran Gibbs (groin), Andre Santos (ankle), Carl Jenkinson (back) and Bacary Sagna (ankle) are unavailable, meaning Francis Coquelin, Ignasi Miquel or Sebastien Squillaci could make a odd start in defence. Alex Song returns from suspension, but Jack Wilshere (ankle), Lukasz Fabianski (knee), Vito Mannone (shoulder), Abou Diaby (hamstring) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) are out.
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has no fresh injury concerns but will check on the availability of midfielder David Edwards and defender Jody Craddock. Edwards has missed the past two games with a groin injury while Craddock played in a behind closed doors friendly against Crewe in midweek behind a three-match absence with a hamstring problem. Full-back Kevin Foley also appeared against Crewe - his first action since ankle surgery in October - but he is unlikely to be involved against the Gunners.
Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal to expect a footballing test when miracle-worker Mick McCarthy brings his battling Wolves side to Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had an extra 24 hours to prepare for the game following the decision to set the fixture back from Boxing Day because of industrial action by some London Underground staff.

While Arsenal have their sights set firmly on the top four after bouncing return from the 1-0 defeat at Manchester City with an away win at Aston Villa, Wolves are scrapping for every point to stay clear of being dragged into a relegation battle.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas is hoping David Luiz will spare him a defensive disaster for Boxing Day's west London derby against Fulham.
Villas-Boas found himself down to just one centre-half in Thursday night's Barclays Premier League game at Tottenham after Branislav Ivanovic limped off injured, along with midfielder John Obi Mikel.
Both look set to miss Monday's Stamford Bridge showdown, but Villas-Boas was optimistic Luiz would back from a knee problem, while he may recall Frank Lampard with Ramires suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season.
Fulham have no fresh injury concerns heading into the clash.
The Cottagers are physically unscathed from their 5-0 home defeat to Manchester United in midweek and have been boosted by Steve Sidwell's back to training after a hernia operation.
The 29-year-old, though, is unlikely to feature against his former club at Stamford Bridge and will be joined on the sidelines by fellow midfielder Simon Davies (back), goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer (spine) and defender Zdenek Grygera (knee).

MANAGER QUOTES

Andre Villas-Boas (Chelsea): "We could have David Luiz available to back on Boxing Day. But we are in the market for another centre-half and we have to respond quickly when the transfer window opens."
Martin Jol (Fulham): "I don't think we are cruising confidence, it's about teamwork. If you work as a team, we are good and our goal difference has shown that. That's probably been a big plus for us this season.
"But that is something we destroyed on Wednesday with the five goals (we lost to Manchester United). If you play as a team, you don't concede goals and you always get your chances. But if you conceded early like we did, then you get tired as well and that's not what you need."

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says winger Gareth Bale is "very doubtful" for Thursday's London derby against Chelsea due to an ankle injury.
Aaron Lennon is out with a hamstring injury, Ledley King's chronic knee injury means he is unlikely to step out against the Blues after playing against Sunderland at the weekend, and Jermain Defoe is a doubt due to a hamstring trouble.
Younes Kaboul returns from suspension, Emmanuel Adebayor has a minor foot injury but should play, while long-term absentees Tom Huddlestone (ankle) and Michael Dawson (Achilles) remain sidelined.
John Terry is well and will start the match at Tottenham, despite being charged with racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.
Terry, who categorically denies the allegation, has shaken off the Achilles tweak he suffered during open training on Monday and will guide out the side at White Hart Lane.
Midfielder Ramires has recovered from a leg injury but defender David Luiz is still out with a knee problem, joining long-term injury victim Michael Essien on the sidelines.

Aston Villa have a number of injuries further on the game.
Darren Bent has not recovered from a thigh injury, while Chris Herd (ankle) will also be out.
Emile Heskey will be missing with an Achilles problem, while James Collins is doubtful for the game, having picked up a knee injury.
However, Gabriel Agbonlahor will back after serving a suspension against Liverpool.
Arsenal will be without any recognised full-backs for the game at Aston Villa.
Johan Djourou joined Kieran Gibbs (hernia), Andre Santos (ankle), Carl Jenkinson (back) and Bacary Sagna (ankle) on the sidelines on Sunday when he suffered a groin strain at Manchester City that will remain him out for around three weeks.
Ignasi Miquel or Sebastien Squillaci could therefore make a rare start in defence.
Alex Song is suspended and Jack Wilshere (ankle), Lukasz Fabianski (knee), Vito Mannone (shoulder), Abou Diaby (hamstring) and Ryo Miyaichi (ankle) are out.

Santos saw Elano and Ganso begin against Kashiwa Reysol despite suffering fitness problems of late.
Barcelona lost forward David Villa to a horrible leg break in the semi-final win over Al-Sadd. Javier Mascherano too suffered a knock in the closing stages.

MANAGER QUOTES

Pep Guardiola: "The players all felt sick for David after the game. They are extremely down. I told them it can happen to anyone at any time. David is going to be out for a long time and now we will have to win the Club World Cup without him. It will take a long time to return from this kind of break."
Muricy Ramalho: “[Barcelona] are of course the top club in the world: team structure, organisation … I admire Guardiola. But in Brazil we want to win every day. If we don't, we get fired immediately. In Europe, at Manchester United and Arsenal, for example, you see the same manager for 25 and 15 years. If Guardiola could led a team to victory in Brazil I would admire him even other.”

Gerard Pique is banned for Barca, with Carles Puyol expected to step in. Adriano has a muscle problem and will not play – young winger Isaac Cuenca could feature from the start. Levante are missing key playmaker Jose Barkero through suspension.
MANAGER QUOTES

MATCH FACTS
Levante have lost their final six league matches at the Camp Nou, despite scoring in five of these. Barcelona are the first side in the history of the Spanish league to keep a clean sheet in 11 consecutive league games at home (the last to do so was Almería in April). The Azulgrana are unbeaten in their last 26 league games at the Camp Nou (23 wins, three draws). Against Sporting, Levante ended a run of three consecutive league defeats. Juan Ignacio Martínez’s men are the second highest-scoring side on the road in La Liga this period (nine). Barcelona have scored the most goals in the opening 15 minutes of league games this time (10, five more than second-placed Real Madrid). Levante’s record for most goals scored in games in the Primera Division (5-1 at home in 64/65) and conceded (2-6 away in 07/08) both came against Barcelona. The four teams to have registered the most possession at the Camp Nou this season (Rayo, Atlético, Zaragoza and Mallorca) have all conceded at least four goals. Arouna Koné has by now scored more league goals with Levante this season (five) than he did with Sevilla and Hannover combined (three).

Right-back Alberto Lora is expected to be missing from the Sporting squad with a hamstring problem, with Damian Suarez likely to come in. Mate Bilic is fit up face but will probably start on the bench with captain David Barral operating as a lone forward. Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is fit after missing some training this week with a twisted ankle. Xabi Alonso is suspended which could give Lassana Diarra, Nuri Sahin or Esteban Granero a start. Ricardo Carvalho is out with a knee knock, while Alvaro Arbeloa also remains absent. Kaka could back to the bench.
MANAGER QUOTES
Manuel Preciado: To follow Jose Mourinho: To follow
MATCH FACTS
Madrid have kept a clean sheet on their last six league visits to El Molinón (four wins, one draw). Sporting were one of two teams who managed to win at the Bernabéu last period in the league (along with Zaragoza). Real Sociedad are the only side to have scored more than once at El Molinón in La Liga: the other two teams to win there both did so by a 1-0 scoreline (Barcelona and Valencia). José Mourinho’s side are on a run of nine straight league wins, their top run since the Portuguese’s arrival at Madrid. The whites’ tally of 46 league goals is their most-ever at this stage of a season. The current table-toppers have won the final 71 league matches in which they have taken the lead. Madrid are the best away side in the league this season with five wins, and are top-scorers on the road (18). The whites have scored the most goals from outside the box (5) and in the second half (27) and are the just side yet to concede a headed goal in La Liga this season. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored his last 17 league penalties, a longer run than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues (David Villa, 15). Three of Real Madrid’s four league defeats final season came without Xabi Alonso in the starting XI, one of them against Sporting.
MATCH ODDS
Sporting 12/1, Real Madrid 2/9, Draw 5-1
